Emily Wells

After 35 years working with animals and the people who love them as a veterinary nurse, I am as passionate about the human animal bond as I ever was. As I age and my ability to work in fast paced specialty practice changes, I think more and more about the animals that I have loved and lost, and what a good death looks like across species lines.
For my own animals, the biggest challenge has been managing my own fear and distress at their impending loss, and I regret the many times my need to distance from them stopped me mentally engaging with them with love and compassion, not just clinical expertise.
In my doula practice, I want to support people approaching death to manage the needs of their animal companions, and to thoroughly enjoy time together. for people losing their beloved critters, I offer my assistance to support both critter and human.
In my life, I am blessed to currently be farewelling my 20 year old hand reared cat, Perce. We have always been a team, and the experience of his end of life is one of the best times we have ever shared. I would really like the opportunity to ease the path for all, so I am here.
